4. A lot of content
Netflix has many titles, almost too many to count. But how big is their content library exactly? Believe it or not, Netflix has over one petabyte of content. A petabyte is equivalent to 1024 terabytes or a million gigabytes! That’s a lot of content and storage space. Because those numbers are so immensely high, Netflix came up with the idea to design its own hardware. Netflix is using two types of servers, one of the servers is hardware based and the other one is flash drive based.
5. Netflix originals
A Netflix Original is content that is produced, co-produced, or distributed by Netflix exclusively on their services. Netflix funds their original shows differently than other TV networks when they sign a project, providing the money upfront and immediately ordering two seasons of most series. In March 2011 Netflix began with their original content by producing the political drama House of Cards. After House of Cards they made more and more series and movies. In 2018, after the success of Netflix’s original content, the company decided to spend some more money on original series and films.

7. Own awards show
Did you know that Netflix had their own awards show called The Flixies. It wasn’t a very serious awards show, the awards show was announced and held in 2013 and had plenty of publicity. However, the awards, which were supposed to be voted on, haven’t returned since. Maybe we will see another Netflix awards show in the future, but only time can tell.

It really pays of working for Netflix, their starting salary is $18 dollars per hour, plus your own free Netflix subscription. The employees of Netflix can take as much time off as they want, as long it’s booked in advance and their work isn’t affected by it. You could say it’s a dream job.
In 2000 Netflix had just about 300,000 subscribers and used the U.S. Postal Service for the delivery of their DVD’s, Netflix was losing money and offered to be acquired by Blockbuster for $50 million. Netflix said that they would rename themselves to Blockbuster.com. The offer was declined by Blockbuster. Blockbuster is bankrupt and Netflix is currently worth over $25 billion.
